Is this a full spelling curriculum?
No, BrightWren holds 47 lists and 540 words. A conventional spelling program covers several hundred words in a single school year. BrightWren is designed as steady practice with a record you can keep — many families use it as their main spelling work, but if you need several hundred new words a year, plan to use it alongside another source.
Why does the app ask me to write sentences on paper?
Writing a dictated sentence gives learners a way to practice the word in context and check their own work. It is optional; Type it again and Words only are also available.
What is Words to Meet Again?
When a word is missed, it is added to Words to Meet Again. The learner can practice those words at any time. A word stays there until it is spelled correctly; BrightWren does not put words on a timed review schedule.
Can I practice a school spelling list?
Yes, with the full version. Create a custom list by typing words or choosing words from the built-in groups, then practice or assess it like other lists.
How do assessments work?
Open Progress → Assessments, choose an available list, and record a formal spelling check. Assessment history stays with the active profile.
The speaking voice is hard to understand. Can I improve it?
Yes. BrightWren uses your device’s installed voices. Open Settings → Voice to choose and preview one. You can install additional system voices in your device’s accessibility or spoken-content settings, and you can choose Slower while practicing.
Do I need an internet connection?
Spelling practice and locally stored records work offline once the app and a device voice are available. Buying or restoring the full version requires a connection to your device’s app marketplace. Downloading an additional system voice may also require a connection.
Is learner data private?
BrightWren has no BrightWren account, ads, tracking, or third-party analytics. Learner names, lists, results, and records stay on the device and are not sent to NuPebbles. The app connects to your device’s app marketplace only to check, buy, or restore the full version.
What happens if I delete the app?
BrightWren keeps everything on your device and nowhere else. There is no account and no cloud backup, which is why we collect nothing about you. It also means deleting the app deletes your record permanently, and we cannot restore it.
Use Settings → Keep a copy in Files from time to time, especially at the end of a term, and before deleting the app or moving to a new device.
How do I move everything to a new device?
On the old device: Settings → Keep a copy in Files, and save the file somewhere you can reach it again. On the new one: Settings → Restore from a copy, and choose that file.
Restoring adds the learners from the file. It never overwrites or removes anything already on the device — so if you restore the same file twice, you will see each learner twice. Delete the extra profile to put it right.
I paid but the full version isn’t showing.
Settings → Full version → Restore purchases. If you bought it with a different Apple Account, or someone else in your Family Sharing group bought it, make sure the device is signed into the right one.
Can I get a refund?
Refunds are handled by Apple, not by us. Visit Apple Support, request a refund, sign in, and find BrightWren in your purchase history.
Are the words and sentences checked?
Yes. Every list and sentence in BrightWren was written and reviewed for American English spelling, punctuation, and usage before it shipped. BrightWren is spelling practice rather than a curriculum, and it does not replace your judgment about what your learner needs next.
If you find a word or sentence you think is incorrect, please let us know at support@nupebbles.com.
Is there a subscription?
No. The full version is a single one-time purchase.
